I got up this morning only to be told that my favourite Bhutanese singer is no more…Yes, you have guessed it right – I am talking about the incredibly young and decent looking person who won our hearts with his song Tam Tsi Sum.

This is a great loss for all of us..for this country. He had such a great voice and I believed he could do better than anyone we have ever had. Tam Tsi Sum, despite its romantically sad tone is a really really happy song and one that would take talent and versatility to imitate, and those without it would sound like a siren trying to sing it.

Was it only several months back when I first saw him at Mojo Park, looking so handsome and unperturbed?? I wish this was all untrue..that I have heard it all wrong. How could a promising light flicker out too soon before it’s even spread out to the rest of the world? I wonder what could have driven him to take charge and decide his end? But as it happens, history has it that great talents are often called upon too early. Look at Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Jim Croce, Ritchie Valens and many others.

Still, he was our own and he could have saved us from listening to all those unbearable noise that one is often subjected to these days and man, he was incredibly young! This is bad…really really bad and heartbreaking!!! I pray that our youth do not resort to such an ultimatum without as much as a small warning and those who are in trouble of any kind seek appropriate help and counseling.

Dear Tobden, for those of us who felt your heart through your voice will always remember you. May you rest in peace…

A really sad thing to know. I remember you wrote about his song a few months back. I just came to know about this sad incident through friends' blogs like yours. May his soul rest in peace. I wish he wasn't called too early. We wish he continued to enchant our hearts with his melodious voice...:(
